Government has pledged to undertake routine maintenance of the new rail system to ensure that they are always in good shape.

Deputy Transport Minister Dzifa Ativor said special training has already been given to some engineers tasked to make sure the system is always in good shape to ensure its durability.

She said old coaches are also being rehabilitated to take care of food growing areas.

The Deputy Minister was speaking to Joy News’ Seth Kwame Boateng during a test ride of the new coaches in Accra on Thursday.

She said putting the new coaches on the tracks cost the nation so much money that they will not be allowed to rot as a result of poor maintenance.
