The Transport Ministry has advised the media to desist from describing last night’s incident at the Kotoka International Airport as a plane crash.

Reports say the incident involved the grazing of the wings of two commercial jets, a Lufthansa aircraft and another from Turkish Airlines that were both on the tarmac.

According to Deputy Minister Dzifa Ativor, the official version of events as she gathered after meeting officials of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and the Airport Company suggest an “incident”.

The incident raised questions about the ability of the airport to accommodate the several airlines that are being licensed by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, but the Deputy Transport Minister disagrees.

The Country Manager of German airline, Lufthansa, Yannick Aplogan has meanwhile confirmed their plane involved in the incident has since been cleared to take-off tonight.
