The chiefs and people of the Ada Traditional Area would begin this year’s celebration of the Ada Okor Asafotufiam festival from August 4 to 11, 2011.

The weeklong celebration is under the theme: “Transforming Society through Culture.”
Weksoyi Nene Lanuer Osabutey Okumo III, Division Chief of Dangmebiawer, who is

the Secretary/Treasurer of the Ada Okor Asafotufiam Planning Committee made the

announcement during an interaction with the Ghana News Agency at Big Ada.
He said the grand durbar to climax the celebration would be held on August 6.
He extended invitation to all Ghanaians and tourists to take advantage of the occasion

and participate and witness the most premier Ghanaian cultural festival to help develop

Dangme East District.
Responding on the issue of untapped natural resources of Ada, Nene Okumo said in

modern times it was the government and its decentralised administrative machinery that

collect taxes and plan development for the people.
He said the traditional rulers and their clans were all owners of lands and its natural

resources, which the government holds in trust of the people, and that there were no

bottlenecks if government was prepared to executive any developmental project of any

natural resource for the benefit of the people.
